MOUNTAIN WHEELS QUALIFICATION

This qualification allows the use of all altiports and altisurfaces which are clear of snow.

An altisurface is not an aerodrome, but an area situated in the mountains, usually a field or meadow on the side of the mountain.

Duration :
- 7 hours : Ground School
- 15 - 20 hours : Flight Training

It is necessary to allow the total of one wohle month in either one whole or several shorter periods between May and October inclusive

General Programme :
- Knowledge of the aerology in mountain,areas and performance of the aeroplane at the heights flown
- Flight preparations
- Mountain Navigation
- Hazard recognition during arrival phase
- Take off - Psychosensorial and medical aspects of mountain flight

The emphasis is put on correct decision-making prior to touch down having observed all elements surrounding the landing area.

Unlike the "Authorisation of site" the mountain qualification will remain current all the time you have a current PPL.

We do, however, strongly recommend that you practice regulary to maintain your skills and our instructiors are always avialable to help you.

Near Courchevel :
Up to 20NM: - St JEAN D' ARVES - VALLOIRE - LA ROSIERE
Over 20 NM: - TIGNES - St ROCH MAYERES

In the Southern Alps: - MENS - L'ESCOULIN - FAUCON - NOSSAGE - CLAMENSANE
